Early Tarot Images of the F.R.C.

by John Brahms Trinick (Frater Donec Attingam, [FRC]) 1914-1915

They were painted by John Brahms Trinick (Frater Donec Attingam), ' a stained glass artist who work was often exhibited at the Royal Academy'. Apparently later in life he became a Jungian pschologist and wrote a book, "The Fire-Tried Stone" published in 1967 which was a psychological interpretation of alchemy.

Trinick joined Waite's Fellowship of the Rosy Cross as a young man when he painted these Keys. These were probably painted three or four years (circa 1914/1915) after Pamela Coleman Smith completed the deck on which Case based his BOTA version. Papers of Waite indicate that he already had his ideas for the 'secret' Keys while the 'public' set was being produced.

There are at least three version produced. The large coloured ones, small coloured, and small black and white. There are minor differences between all three. Displayed here are copies of copies some of the beautiful finer detail cannot be seen.

Many thanks to T.F. for the above text and graciously making these scans available.
